CEU Course Description

National data reveals that in the past 17 years, the use of opioids during pregnancy has dramatically increased. As a result, health care professionals have experienced an increase in the number of pregnant women with opioid use disorders that require treatment. In order to administer effective health care to pregnant women using or abusing opioids, health care professionals must be up-to-date on the specific needs of pregnant women with opioid use disorders and the distinct interventions used in their treatment. This course is designed to provide health care professionals with the required information necessary to effectively and safely administer health care to pregnant women with opioid use disorders.  

CEU Course Objectives

1. Examine the concepts of medication-assisted treatment (MAT), while obtaining an understanding of the specific medications used in MAT.
2. Review the guidelines for supporting collaborative policies and practice.
3. Explore examples of treatment strategies and interventions used to effectively administer health care to pregnant women with opioid use disorders, while obtaining an understanding of how to build and foster cross-system collaboration teams.
